ACADEMIC CALENDAR 2021

Spring, Summer and Fall Undergraduate Academic Periods

We work annually, with three 15-week academic periods (Spring, Summer and Fall), with two week sessions in between. By enrolling in ULACIT, you can cover more credits within a year. Each academic course covers 45 contact hours per season (1 lessons each week, for 15 weeks), representing 3US credits, or 6 ECTS credits, per course.

Spanish Immersion Program 2021

The Spanish Immersion Program consists of seven levels of language proficiency. Students may enroll in one or two consecutive Spanish level courses per academic period. Our Spanish Professors will administer a language placement test. According to their proficiency level, students will be assigned to the appropriate course, in one of the following options: 1. Introductory Spanish; 2. Basic Spanish; 3. Low-Beginning Spanish; 4. High-Beginning Spanish; 5. Low-Intermediate Spanish; 6. High-Intermediate Spanish; 7. Advanced Spanish

Summer Program 2020

Join the 5-week Summer Programs aimed at university student groups. Our Summer programs are designed as an integral and dynamic experience, combining academic lessons with one-day academic field trips and extensive tours to Costa Rica’s amazing natural sites. Each Summer program spans two seasons (Summer 1 and Summer 2). Each season contains two Specialized Academic Courses relevant to each of the program’s academic emphasis. Choose between the International Business Management Summer Program or the Sustainable Development Studies Summer Program.

Download the documents specified below and complete the information requested in each document, using Microsoft Word Processor (once finished, print and sign them). Then, email them as a PDF file to [email protected].

 Step 2: Please download the application form to apply for undergraduate admission on the Regular Academic Periods, Spanish Immersion Program or to request application for our Summer programs. Continue by filling out and sending the Application Form with your general information.

Step 3: Once your application request is received, the Global Education Office will send you course enrollment information to proceed with course pre-enrollment, housing information, while coordinating directly with your home university.  Students from universities without an exchange agreement with ULACIT can still apply and enroll as fee-paying students.

 Step 4: Once a student is formally accepted into the exchange program and enrolled in the selected courses, students will receive a confirmation email from an academic advisor to proceed with payment information and coordinate travel and housing logistics.

You will receive a message from an academic advisor informing you about your admission process within 10 business days after your application date. Incomplete and unsigned forms will not be processed.

Step 5:  Once you have been accepted into the exchange program by receiving a confirmation email from an academic advisor, you must send the following set of documents at least 45 days before your expected starting date program. Incomplete forms will not be accepted.

Acceptance letters will only be provided after all the documentation and payments have been finalized.

Important notes:

  • Universities or groups interested in sending students for an academic exchange semester or in a customized study abroad program can contact the Global Education Office at the following addresses: [email protected].
  • Independent students must be at least 18 years old to apply. Younger students are only accepted with a group or sponsor school.
  • Students must ask their international office or school/faculty to generate a complete official transcript as part of the documentation they must hand in. Unofficial copies of transcripts will not be accepted.
