Skills to think and reason on a critical manner are an important part of daily responses to what we hear, think, and read. This course is designed to present a set of systematic strategies to increase the abilities to react critically and argument properly. This class will assist in the learning of the art of asking the "right" question on specific subject matters.
Critical thinking isn't just an art, it is a disposition and a commitment. This course is especially appropriate for students who are interested in careers in law, public service, education, or any position requiring leadership and advocacy activities. While the course is not designed to teach you formal debating skills, informal strategies for advocating and arguing positions will be explored, as reasoning in speeches, conversations, essays, and group deliberations, are examined.
